Maria Grazia Chiuri, first woman to lead Dior’s artistic direction, continues to empower women with an intimate video campaign #TheWomenBehindTheLens
With the ready-to-wear spring-summer 2017 collection currently in stores, discover #TheWomenBehindTheLens project which invited nine female photographers to deliver their own personal vision of the creations of Maria Grazia Chiuri. Among these, Maripol went backstage to photograph the looks designed by the Artistic Director with a Polaroid, her camera of choice.
From the production of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s creations in the Dior ateliers, to backstage in the final moments before the show started, taking in the fittings along the way, the photographer traced the development of the collection step by step.
Known for the spare aesthetic of her portraits and still lifes, the photographer conceived a series of diptychs in which the details, colors, curves and materials of the collection’s key pieces form a dialogue with each other as well as with the House’s emblematic codes.
Chosen by Maria Grazia Chiuri to shoot the ready-to-wear spring-summer 2017 collection advertising campaign, Brigitte Lacombe illustrates the Artistic Director’s interpretation of Dior femininity as part of the #TheWomenBehindTheLens project. To embody this vision, the aesthetically spare series features the twins Ruth and May Bell as distinct and assertive personalities.
